The course
Modem
Modem is a specializing training course, born in 2000 from the collaboration among compagnia zappalà danza, SCENARIO PUB.BLI.CO and Professione Danza.
The course in divided into many sections:
Start is the basic ground allowing dancers to deepen the muscular and technical training for the work of the following year. Dancers will start to get familiar with compagnia zappalà danza’s language.
Length of the course 1 year.
In order to access the following year a positive evaluation of the dancer will be required from the board of teachers.
Studio: is the sequel of compagnia zappalà’s style and technique study. Dancers will elaborate their training with other teachers belonging to the same choreographic area and they also start their workshop section.
Length of the course 1 year.
In order to access the following year a positive evaluation of the dancer will be required from the board of teachers.
Atelier: focused on laboratorial work, creativity, live performances and a deep study of the style and repertoire of compagnia zappalà danza.
Length of the course 1 year.
The registration to the following years is not compulsory. Dancers are free to subscribe every year.
Who is eligible to apply Both courses are aimed at dancers of contemporary dance, specifically at students between 18 and 26 years of age. Both EU and non-EU (with permit and free from school-related commitments) can apply.
Selections The access to the course is through selection. Applicants will have the opportunity to be selected through auditions held in several European cities.
The registration to the auditions is made directly through the web.
Contents
Young dancers have the opportunity to improve their dance technique with the support of highly professional teachers and benefit from the direct contact with the company and its choreographer, who since always feels the need to transfer his own language to young dancers through a deep laboratorial and repertoire work within Atelier course.
Besides dance the program includes the study of musical and theatrical skills through specifically designed workshops held by actors and directors from the contemporary field. These workshops are intended to give the dancers all the necessary requirements to get involved in more and more eclectic performances.
At the end of each year the dancers by Start and Atelier will perform choreographies from the company’s repertoire and/or creations by guest choreographers; these can choose autonomously the dancers to involve in the creation. Their decision is in no way appealable.
Classes will take place in Scenario Pubblico (artistic residence of compagnia zappalà danza), a venue specifically designed for dance and performing arts which gives an enormous creative potential to professionals and students alike. Participants to modem course will have the unique opportunity to familiarize with the functional mechanisms of a performing arts venue, to see performances and attend seminars and workshops by prestigious guest artists.
Certificate of attendance the certificate will be delivered only to dancers who will correctly and thoroughly attend Atelier course. It has no legal value.
Holidays from 19 th December 2011 to 6 th January 2012(included), from 5th to 13rd April 2012(included) and Italian national holidays.
Accommodation A student accommodation services list will be provided to participants. The cost for a single bedroom varies from 150 to 300 Euros per month. The direction is not responsible for any possible problems relate to accommodation.
